In The Beloved’s Wonderful Game
Featuring a poem by Persian Sufi poet Hafiz, this design features the ocean, the fish, a reference to Persian gardens, and my trademark calligraphic section. The colour palette references the history of porcelain: a look found in an obscure Persian dish, then in the highly collectible Gaudy Welsh style, and lastly a sumptuous French vase from the Baroque era. Initially, I created this design from scratch and painted it on blank porcelain. Currently I’m salvaging porcelain with generic rose patterns and adding the other elements to highlight the blooms.
